Dedicated servers FAQ
Q: Where are physically located the rented servers?
A: The servers are located in France, in the Aubervillier (95) datacenter of Télécity, European leader on Neutral Data Center. This datacenter receives a secured access control by badge and visual recognition. The surveillance is provided 24/7 by video camera surveillance systems supervised by a surveillance guard.
Q: Do you have a reliable logistic infrastructure for hosting services?
A: The dedicated servers' room has an air-conditioning system provided by redundant air-conditioners in order to keep the external bay temperature at 22°C.
In case of a power cut, the 250 KVA UPS are ready to be used as well, everything being connected to an independent generating set. The generating set disposes of a diesel oil reserve which allows for gaining enough time till the surging current is restored. All of our equipment operates on restored and emergency-supplied power.
An anti-fire device is operational as well by means of a fire extinguisher set to put out the smallest flame without damaging the material. This method has proved itself in England as well as in North America.
Our equipment is connected and redundant at a minimum of N+1.
Q: Do you have an IP we can ping?
A:Yes, you can ping 195.140.141.2
Q: Do you allow Adult sites?
A:Yes we do.
Q: How good is your bandwidth?
A: Its considered premium European 1st class bandwidth, as a matter of fact here's a quote from a customer who was running Shoutcast servers "I must say though, I am EXTREMELY impressed with the quality of your bandwidth. It is absolutely superb.
Q: Is the 2,000 in/out or total?
A: The bandwidth allocation is total up and down. We monitor all bandwidth by MRTG.
Q: How fast can i get a machine rebooted?
A: As fast as your fingers can send a email to the data center. Its staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Q: Will my machine be put on a 10 mbps or 100 mbps port?
A: 100 Mbps capped at 10 Mbps
Q: What kind of payments are accepted?
A: Visa, MasterCard, Wired Transfer
Q: If I submit a order today, when will the server be setup?
A: All our machines are available on stock. If you place an order by 12:00am GMT , and the contract papers are faxed, we can get your server setup the same day, otherwise within 24 hours. (As long as our distributor has all parts etc available). If you submit an order and documents are not faxed within 48 hours, its automatically purged from our system and you will have to re-signup.
Q: How is support handled?
A: Either by Email for basic reboots and monitor hookups or by our helpdesk for all other issues
Q: Do you block ports?
A: No we do not
Q: Do you have a 30 day Money Back Guarantee?
A: For Dedicated & Colocation, no we do not
Q: What does 6Mbps per month mean?
A: You have a 6 Mbps guaranteed and dedicated connection, in case there is a consumption overflow which is all the same 2000 GB. The advantage of this solution is that in case of heavy traffic within a short period of time, your users do not see the difference.
Q: Which are the available operating systems?
A: You can choose among the following platforms:
- Linux RedHat 9.0
- Fedora 1.0
- Linux Debian 3.0 Kernel grsecurity
- FreeBSD 4.9
- OpenBSD 3.4
- Windows 2003 Web Edition
Q: Which are the rights belonging to the server administration?
A: You have the "root" rights for Linux and FreeBSD and administration rights for NT. You are the only owner of your machine.
Q: What network is compatible with this load and is also reliable?
A: We have a BGP platform connected to several operators in order to allow us to maintain a high level service providing of about 99.9999% up time. Our core network is set for gigabits as well as our links to the operators. A 100 Mb/s fast Ethernet link connects us to a neutral operator in case of a problem with the BGP platform which is on three other operators. We have a redundant architecture at all levels. We can only be at a standstill because or in case of absolute necessity. Our ASN is 29402. You can also view our network traffic in real time.
Q: How long does it take you to reboot a computer/server?
A: We work continually to improve the service, the reboot being done in most cases immediately afterwards and up to 2 hours over the weekends. It depends entirely on the work charge of the datacenter administrator. We are aware that the request for a reboot generally comes from a server system crash and this is for us a top-priority intervention.
Q: Do you have a SLA on the bandwidth?
A: Yes, we do. CTN1 has included in your dedicated server's directions of use a SLA on the bandwidth.
